I am Professor of Biostatistics within the School of Medicine at Keele University. My research focuses on the epidemiology of common conditions in primary care with a specific interest in research using electronic health records. I have extensive experience of use of primary care datasets such as CPRD. I have also been lead statistician for several cohort studies which link self-reported data to medical records with consent of research participants.

Within electronic health records research I am interested in methods to investigate the burden (incidence, prevalence, impact) of health conditions over time, and prognosis studies including how patterns of symptoms and health care use can be used to monitor chronic conditions and predict longer-term outcomes.

My research has focussed primarily in musculoskeletal conditions but I also have interests in measuring and predicting progression of dementia and the outcomes of non-cardiac chest pain presented to primary care.
