Biography
Colin has lived and worked in Nottingham for his whole career with roles leading teams of analysts, policy, commissioning and strategy in Boots the Chemist, Boots Healthcare International, Nottingham City Council and now Nottingham University Hospitals. Retail leaders such as Boots pioneered the use of customer data through their Advantage Card and working in that team enabled Colin to be part of developing customer segmentation, customer insight and advanced analytics work that at the time was market leading and innovative. Colin believes there are many areas of transferable learning from retail to the healthcare sector in the way we could use patient data to become more patient centric.
A brief move to Boots Healthcare International enabled Colin to work across major global brands supporting corporate and country teams in their understanding of their markets and competitors. Following this he joined Nottingham City Council where he has held roles leading performance, analytics, commissioning, policy and strategy for around 10 years bringing him experience with public health, adult and children’s social care as well as broader areas of work involving communities within the City. Colin worked extensively in partnership with local healthcare providers and commissioners as the Integrated Care System and place based partnerships were established. This partnership working enticed him into the NHS and he joined NUH in 2001 in his current role and sees huge opportunity to support colleagues and patients with the use of our data and information.
Recently this has included working closely with Andy Callow, CDIO in the development of a new Digital and Information Strategy to support the Trust’s People First approach, working on the development of advanced analytical tools to support our productivity and helping to shift the Trust in moving from data to insight in its use of information. Colin is currently setting up a new AI Advisory Group within NUH and welcomes anyone contacting him about being involved.
