Biography

Charlotte is a Senior Project Manager at University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) and oversees a number of projects across Ophthalmology, AI Regulation and Health Data primarily focused on the application of digital healthcare (including artificial intelligence) to improve patient care in the ‘real world’. An example of her programme of work includes INSIGHT – the HDRUK for Eye Health (https://www.insight.hdrhub.org) and STANDING Together looking at the development of standards for addressing bias in health datasets  (www.datadiversity.org).

Charlotte is part of the AI & Digital Healthcare Group who work across UHB and the University of Birmingham (UoB) and are focused on the evaluation and regulation of data-driven technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence as a Medical Device (AIaMD) and clinical decision support systems (CDSS) which are critically dependent on large datasets. The group work with health regulators and policymakers and their focus lies in three questions: Is it effective? Is it safe? Is it equitable?
