Biography

For the last five years I have succeeded as a research collaborations and partnerships manager. My health research expertise has benefited from working with multiple academic and research institutions, collaborating and writing several research funding proposals for national and regional projects, including two successful collaborative research development awards.

I have also maintained my professional HCPC registration as a Dietitian, now with over 15 years of experience working in diverse ethnic communities, with all life stages and wide-ranging nutrition and dietetic needs.

My health research experience mirrors my AHP role, becoming a specialist in weight and obesity management, self-management and behavioural change techniques.  I have developed and delivered human diet and nutrition intervention studies, clinical trials and commercial studies; recruited, developed and managed a team of dietary research professionals in applied health research delivery. I am uniquely skilled in experimental research, human translational and complex intervention health behaviours research, focussed on metabolic, obesity-related long-term conditions and multimorbidity.

Alongside research and clinical commitments over the last 10 years I have also maintained my clinical academic profile designing masters level modules and a FutureLearn online open access course (5952 enrolled), supervising students (research, dissertation and pastoral) and now lead on the MSc Foundation Research Module primarily focussed on healthcare professionals new to applied health research.

I am an advocate for person centred care and research to improve clinical practice, public involvement and engagement for research prioritisation and design.
